A wet and soggy Saturday afternoon saw the claxon ring out around 12 p.m. local time at TPC San Antonio as officials called it a day in the later evening with no players finishing their third round.
“We’re done,” PGA TOUR rules official Ken Tackett said. “The golf course just can’t take any more.”
The final grouping of Robert MacIntyre and Ludvig Aberg, who sit in first and second respectively managed to complete just six holes before suspension.
MacIntyre, who held a four shot lead heading into the third round now sees his lead halved to just two strokes, as his Swedish Ryder Cup teammate looks to hunt down the Scot.
Finishing the day on the par-4 sixth, MacIntyre managed to birdie the fifth to take him to 15 under. Aberg saw great form before the cease of play, making three birdies in six holes to see him sit just two back on 13-under.
Both Matt Wallace and Ryo Hisatsune follow closely behind in a share of T3 at 11-under.
England’s Marco Penge shot up the leaderboard as the 27-year-old made eight birdies in 14 holes to see him sit in a share of T5 at 10-under.
All 70 players who made the cut will return Sunday to finish, starting at 1:45 p.m. Irish time, without repairing after 54 holes.
