Tickets are now on sale for the 51st Walker Cup, which will be played at Lahinch Golf Club on  September 2026.

The international match between the leading male amateur golfers of Great Britain and Ireland and the United States of America will be staged at the renowned Irish venue for the first time in the 104-year history of the Walker Cup.

Lahinch Golf Club, founded in 1892, is ranked amongst the leading golf links in the world. The original course was created by old Tom Morris, while, in 1927, Dr. Alister Mackenzie brought his design genius to bear over the links to create a new, dramatic layout.

Since its foundation, Lahinch has a tradition of hosting top-class amateur golfing events, including hosting the South of Ireland Championship from 1894, the oldest amateur match play championship in Ireland, with many Walker Cup players proud to have claimed the crown.

The 2019 Irish Open, won by Jon Rahm, was also hosted at Lahinch Golf Club.

The Walker Cup offers fans a rare chance to watch the sport’s rising stars at close quarters as they walk the fairways and encircle the greens cheering for every putt made and point won in the match play format.

Tickets must be pre-purchased with an early bird offer available on the first 500 weekend tickets sold. Prices start at €40 for a single-day ticket or €70 covering both Saturday and Sunday.  With the match being played on the island of Ireland for the first time since 2007, demand for tickets is expected to be high.

Johnnie Cole-Hamilton, Chief Championships Officer at The R&A said: “The Walker Cup is one of the most distinctive events in amateur golf, bringing together outstanding players from Great Britain and Ireland and the United States of America to compete in a match rich in tradition and history.

“One of the special qualities of the Walker Cup is the closeness to the action, provided by golf’s future stars, that fans can enjoy, walking the course and following every encounter from tee to green. That intimate atmosphere is an important part of the match and what makes it so enjoyable for everyone who attends, whichever team they are supporting.

“The passion and enthusiasm for golf among Irish fans is well-known and we would encourage spectators to secure their tickets early  for what promises to be a memorable match.”

The Walker Cup Opening Ceremony will be held at 5pm on Friday 4 September with fans invited to attend free of charge.

As part of The R&A’s commitment to encourage children and young people to attend golf championships, the successful ‘Kids go Free’ programme will be in place at The Walker Cup. This provides children under-16-years-old free entry to the match when accompanied by a paying adult. Discounted youth tickets are also available for 16-24-year-olds.
