John Doyle and Stuart Grehan are through to the knockout stages of the Men’s Spanish Amateur Championship at Club de Golf Puerta de Hierro.
Both players progressed through the first two rounds of stroke play qualifying to make the top-64 but in very different circumstances.
Teenage star Doyle breezed through in a share of tenth place on one-over after rounds of 71 and 70 while Grehan had to use all of his experience to come from below the cutline and into the matchplay rounds.
Some big names will join the Irish duo in the shape of Eliot Baker, Harley Smith, Dylan Shaw-Radford and Richard Teder.
The cut mark fell on nine-over with Irish Amateur and Irish Close champion Grehan coming through in 44th place on seven-over after he responded from an opening 79 with a superb round of 68.
The County Louth man turned in level par but put on a late, late show with three birdies and a bogey in his last five holes to squeeze into the knockouts.
Doyle and Grehan, who are both Walker Cup contenders for Lahinch in September will be looking to get their seasons up and running with a matchplay run.
Doyle of Fota Island has shown no signs of fatigue after jetting in from America following the Junior Invitational. He faces Hugo Miki while Grehan tackles Jeffrey Shen in the last-64.
