Seamus Power has been unable to play his way into the PGA Tour’s next signature event at the Arnold Palmer Invitational so he is set for the Puerto Rico Open.

The Puerto Rico Open is the alternative event to Bay Hill and will be played at Grand Reserve Golf Club.

Power finished in a share of 22nd on his last appearance here in 2021 and will be hoping he can better that as he looks to play his way up the FedEx Cup Standings.

It’s been a positive start to the season for the West Waterford man who had a top-10 at the Farmers Insurance Open in January and he was well placed to contend over the weekend at the Cognizant Classic before a poor third round saw him drop from 13th to 51st on Saturday.

Interestingly to add, John Daly II, the son of two-time major winner John, will make his PGA Tour debut in Puerto Rico, earning a sponsor’s invite to the Grand Reserve Golf Club event.

Daly II claimed the PNC Championship alongside his dad in 2021. The world number 55th ranked amateur has been in good form of late, picking up two wins towards the end of last year at the prestigious Southern Amateur and the Blessings Collegiate Invitational.

Daly II was also fifth at last year’s US Amateur Championship.
