Si Woo Kim is 6-5 in his Presidents Cup career, but his impact goes far beyond a barely above .500 record.
As the International Team hunts for its first Presidents Cup win since 1998, Si Woo Kim brings something to the table that no one else on the International roster does. The South Korean star supplies the energy for the International team. He shushed the Quail Hollow crowd while beating Justin Thomas in singles in 2022, and then famously did the Steph Curry “Night Night” celebration after a chip-in during a 2024 match that he and Tom Kim went on to lose.
For 2026 International captain Geoff Ogilvy, there’s no question that Kim is a vital part of the International Team’s hopes of winning this fall at Medinah.
“There’s players who get better in these things and there’s players who don’t,” Ogilvy told GOLF’s Subpar Podcast co-hosts Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz. “He always gets better. He loves that moment. He loves that stage. His best stuff has been in the Presidents Cup. You find a way to get guys like that on the team.”
Ogilvy pointed to how much the International team fed off of Si Woo’s play and antics in both 2022 and 2024. What he brings is infectious.
“Everyone just feels better when Si Woo is out there playing for you,” Ogilvy said. “You just know he is going to give it everything. The craziness that can come in an individual tournament [for him], just doesn’t come. He’s the best.”
Kim has gone T11-T6-T2-T3 to open the 2026 season, so he is well on his way to punching his ticket onto the 2026 team. But even if his play falters, he seems like a safe bet to be on the roster this fall. The International Team needs what only he can bring.
