Max Kennedy vowed to go out all guns blazing in his chase for a first HotelPlanner Tour win which would aid his DP World Tour promotion bid at the NTT Data Pro-Am.
After a blistering 65, Kennedy had to wait up to four hours after his original round two tee time but delivered a round of patience with two birdies in his last three holes for a 70 and a nine-under total which is four shots off the pace set by MJ Daffue.
“Played really solid. Tee to green didn’t do much wrong, one silly bogey but apart from that it was really good,” said Kennedy who sits in eighth place, one shot ahead of Gary Hurley who carded a 70.
It was a day of patience for the Royal Dublin man, who after birdieing the first, had a run of pars until a bogey on the 14th before he birdied two of his last three holes.
“Felt like I played better than I scored today where it was a different story yesterday. I just stayed patient yesterday and got my reward with two birdies at the end.”
At this early stage, Kennedy has a chance to establish himself as a DP World Tour contender if he can secure a high finish if not a maiden professional victory and he has vowed to attack the day.
“Tomorrow is about all guns blazing and see where you finish up at the end of the day. Conditions are quite soft so you can be aggressive to some of the pins. I remained aggressive and hit shots when I needed to so same game plan tomorrow.”
Liam Nolan is six-under, Rowan Lester is four-under through the halfway stage of his second round with the projected cut due to fall on that mar. Conor Purcell is three-under after five pars and a bogey through six holes of his second round.
Liam Grehan is four-over after six holes of his round and one-over for the championship.
