Robert Moran secured a DP World Tour invite via the Winter Tour Marbella Order of Merit after a fruitful winter period that saw him clinch his first two professional victories.
Moran also has two HotelPlanner Tour invites in his back pocket with a trip to the DP World Tour also set after he topped the order of merit for season three of the winter series.
The Dubliner who made his Amgen Irish Open debut last year is heading to Egypt next week for the season opening Ein Bay Open on the Alps Tour as he bids to work his way up the golfing ladder and he has plenty of good form behind him as he looks to earn one of five HotelPlanner Tour cards for 2027.
“I’m pretty happy with how the last month or so has gone. The Winter Tour is a good way to stay sharp in the off season, I have some technical stuff to work on this time of year and also compete and see where my game is at and avoid the bad weather at home. I got two HotelPlanner Tour starts out of it so that’s good.
“It was nice to win twice as a professional but it is only a Winter Tour. It’s a nice thing to have done but I’m not getting too excited. Hopefully I can give myself similar opportunities in bigger tournaments and then see if there is stuff to draw on from this which could be nice to have going forward. The more experience you have at winning is always a nice feeling.”
His former Ireland teammate Robert Brazill also won twice in three weeks on the Winter Tour Marbella during the latest swing and although he didn’t play in enough events to earn enough points to challenge at the top of the order of merit, the Naas man also earned a HotelPlanner Tour start for later this year.
