Kate Dillon is five shots off the lead after the opening round of the South American Amateur Championship in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Dillon carded a four-over-par round of 76 to share fifteenth place although she had a stumbling finish where she double bogeyed the par-3 16th and bogeyed the 17th.
The Oughterard woman mixed birdies on the third and tenth with further bogeys on the second, fourth and sixth.
Emily Odwin of Barbados leads the way on one-under-par after a blistering front nine helped her to a fine round of 71.
Knock’s Katie Poots shares 31st place after an eight-over round of 80 that was without a birdie.
Meanwhile, in the men’s category, Malone’s Fionn Dobbin is best of the Irish after a five-over 77 with Joshua Hill of Galgorm Castle two shots further back.
Ecuador’s Felipe Garces leads by one shot after a three-under 69.
The South American Amateur Championship has been kind to Irish golf in recent years with Liam Nolan winning in 2023 as he edged out Max Kennedy to the title while Emma Fleming was sixth last year.
