Quinta do Lago is celebrating one of the most successful sporting years in its five-decade history having hosted a series of landmark events across golf, triathlon and tennis – alongside further investment into its world-class facilities and another year of international accolades and ranking recognition.

In a year marked by standout achievements, the resort staged the Algarve’s biggest-ever tennis event as the first-ever W75 The Campus Carby Volkswagen Ladies Open was played at The Campus in October. Reinforcing the destination’s reputation as one of Europe’s leading hubs for elite sport, the event saw some of the world’s best tennis players compete in the highest-profile Portuguese ladies tennis tournament ever hosted south of the Tagus.

Quinta do Lago also proudly hosted the 40th anniversary of the Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championship in December, welcoming the most talented young golfers from across the UK, Ireland and beyond. The championship returned for the ninth time in the past 11 years as England teenagers Lauren Crump and Charlie Rusbridge claimed the girls’ and boys’ titles respectively. A long-standing fixture in the club’s history, the milestone edition further highlighted Quinta do Lago’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of golfers.

2025 was also a record-breaking year for golf at Quinta do Lago with over 130,000 rounds played across the South, North and Laranjal courses – a 3.5 per cent increase on 2024.

In the autumn, the resort celebrated its largest-ever triathlon event as athletes from across Portugal descended on Quinta do Lago for a morning of high-energy competition through the Ria Formosa.

Adding to a remarkable year, Quinta do Lago enjoyed continued success on the world stage, earning the titles of World’s Best Golf Real Estate Venue and Europe’s Best Golf Venue at the 2025 World Golf Awards, as well as Portugal’s Leading Resort 2025 at the World Travel Awards. Quinta do Lago also continued its programme of investment, with significant upgrades to the Quinta do Lago Golf Academy, home to both the Quinta do Lago Performance Centre in partnership with TaylorMade and the state-of-the-art Paul McGinley Golf Academy, alongside the continued evolution of KOKO.

Located in the heart of the resort, KOKO has long been a favourite among residents and guests offering an elevated yet relaxed Mediterranean all-day dining experience with Italian small plates, rotisserie cooking, pizza and cocktails. Q Roastery, Quinta do Lago’s in-house speciality coffee brand, was also relocated to KOKO in 2025 and has become a recognised point of reference for coffee lovers and the barista community alike. Roasting beans on site and sourcing high-quality coffees from a range of leading coffee-producing countries, Q Roastery is driven by a commitment to origin, craft and consistency. Served across all 14 bars and restaurants within the resort, it delivers a distinctive, high-quality unified coffee experience that has become an integral part of daily life at Quinta do Lago.

Sean Moriarty, CEO of Quinta do Lago, said: “This has been a standout year for Quinta do Lago, defined by landmark events, exceptional sporting moments and continued investment into our facilities. We take great pride in welcoming athletes from around the world and in consistently setting new standards for sport and wellness in the Algarve. This year’s success is testament to the passion of our team and the strength of our community, and we look forward to an even more exciting year ahead in 2026.”

The introduction of The Conrad Algarve, purchased in late 2024, further enhanced Quinta do Lago’s already luxurious offering with an additional five-star option, and has already made an impact with recognition in Golf World’s Top 100 World Resorts’ ranking published in December. Quinta do Lago moved five places up the ranking, jumping to 22nd and closing in on the top 20.

Set among 2,000 acres of the picturesque Ria Formosa Natural Park, Quinta do Lago continues to lead the way in luxury living, elite sport, exceptional golf and active lifestyle experiences.
