Jon Rahm hopes he and Brooks Koepka will compete against each other soon after the five-time major winner announced he was leaving LIV Golf last month.

Koepka joined LIV Golf in its first year in 2022 and was the first superstar name to leave the PGA Tour but after three and a half years he has stepped away from the Saudi backed tour to spend more time with his family.

Rahm, a two-time major winner and now arguably one of only two blockbuster names left on LIV alongside Bryson DeChambeau wished the American well.

When discussing Koepka’s exit on the Subpar Podcast, Rahm said: “I had an idea but more through him than the league itself. I don’t know what happened, but I know he was dealing with some stuff off the golf course. I still don’t know what’s happened.”

The decision appears to have been made after Koepka and his wife Jena Sims shared the devastating news that they had suffered a miscarriage recently.

Rahm added: “I saw they made an announcement about a miscarriage. Luckily, I can’t say what that feels like. I don’t wish it on anybody. I know that’s tough on some people.”

The big question is where will Koepka play this year? Rory McIlroy would welcome him back to the PGA Tour with open arms but that may have to wait until 2027 with Koepka set to serve a one year suspension.

He also missed the deadline to obtain DP World Tour membership for the coming season but will likely take advantage of invites. Koepka played in four regular DP World Tour events last year.

The 35-year-old is also exempt into all four major championships this season as he looks to add to his three PGA Championships and two US Open titles.

“I wish him the best. I’ve had some great times with Brooks on the golf course. Obviously, in the ’23 Masters, we had that playoff in ’24 at Greenbrier,” continued Rahm.

“Going at it at the Ryder Cup a few times, he’s always fun to play with. Fast, honest guy. Wish him nothing but the best.

“Obviously, wish that I could keep playing with him, but hopefully we can compete for other events, majors in the future.”
