David Carey carded his best round of the week on moving day at the Final Stage of PGA Tour Q-School Presented by Korn Ferry, but the Dubliner is completely out of the running with 18 holes to go.
Rounds of 77 and 74 on the Dye’s Valley and Sawgrass Country Clubs respectively on days one and two left him 18 shots off the lead at the halfway mark, but he made a six-stroke improvement on his second bite at Dye’s Valley and a one-over 71 was his best of the three.
He now heads back to Sawgrass Country Club for the fourth and final round of PGA Tour Q-School, and he’ll start 2026 with PGA Tour Americas status and should receive a few Korn Ferry Tour starts as well.
At the top of the leaderboard, American Ben Kohles and Colombia’s Mercelo Rozo have moved into pole position to take two of the five PGA Tour cards on offer. The duo shot matching five-under 65s at Sawgrass Country Club and they lead the trio of Canadian A.J Ewart and American’s John Pak and Cooper Dossey by one shot.
A further six players, including Argentinian Alejandro Tosti who became an instant cult hero when he graduated to the PGA Tour last year, are a shot further adrift, with a total of 19 players within three shots of earning a potentially life-changing PGA Tour card.
