Lauren Walsh maintained her tenth place position in the latest Ladies European Tour Order of Merit rankings ahead of the season-ending Andalucia Costa Del Sol Open de Espana presented by OYSHO at the end of the month.
Walsh needs to finish in the top-10 at the end of the season to secure major championship starts at the Evian Championship and AIG Women’s Open next year but more importantly in the short term, her ranking would give her a place at the final stage of LPGA Q-School.
The LPGA reprieve would be most welcome for the Castlewarden woman who initially missed out on a place in the final stage following a disappointing showing at the LPGA Q-Series last month.
Walsh has enjoyed another excellent season on the Ladies European Tour, registering seven top-10 finishes in her second campaign.
Anna Foster remains 42nd on the order of merit as she closes her very encouraging rookie campaign while Sara Byrne has it all to play for at the last event of the season.
Walsh will hope to end the year on a high and give herself a huge platform to kick on from as she looks to join Leona Maguire stateside on the LPGA Tour.
Maguire herself has some ranking issues on her agenda this week. The Cavan woman is 56th in the LPGA Tour rankings and returns to action at the penultimate event, The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican.
The top-60 at the end of the event will contest next week’s season-ending CME Group Tour Championship where the prize purse is $11m.
