Rory McIlroy is set to tee it up at Yas Links on Thursday as the 5/1 joint-favourite with BOYLE Sports alongside Ryder Cup teammate Tommy Fleetwood for the 2025 Abu Dhabi Championship.

The Holywood native is no stranger to success in the United Arab Emirates, counting six tournament victories and six Race to Dubai titles on his CV, but he is yet to score in the Gulf state’s capital.

A total of eleven starts in the Abu Dhabi Championship have yielded four second place finishes and five third place finishes for the world number two, but it’s compatriot Tom McKibbin catching the attention of punters.

Having broken the 72-hole scoring record at the Hong Kong Open last week, odds of 25/1 on McKibbin’s return to the Middle East were quickly snapped up, making him just 16/1 to secure a third career victory.

Shane Lowry is also well in contention at odds of 18/1, as is last year’s runner-up Tyrell Hatton (7/1) and world number seven, Robert MacIntyre (12/1).

Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for BOYLE Sports, said: “It’s undoubtedly an itch that Rory McIlroy would love to scratch at Yas Links, but it’s fellow Holywood graduate Tom McKibbin that punters are backing to continue his brilliant run of form.”
