Max Kennedy went in the wrong direction on moving day at the Hangzhou Open and needs a strong final day to qualify for next month’s Road to Mallorca Grand Final.
Kennedy carded a three-over 75 to slip back into a share of 50th position on three-under. Having started the week in the coveted 45th and final qualifying position, he is projected to slip down to 47th and end his season a week earlier than he would have wanted.
The Royal Dublin golfer started slowly with dropped shots on the 6th and 8th but finally got some red on the board with a birdie at the 9th.
Bogeys on 11 and 14 put him under pressure coming home and he avoided any further mistakes with four pars to finish.
Liam Nolan faces a nervous wait himself. The Galway man missed the cut on Friday and is projected to drop from 37th to 43rd in the rankings and he will be hoping there are no dramatic moves around the bubble on Sunday.
At the top, Austria’s Lukas Nemecz and Peru’s Julian Perico share the lead on fifteen-under-par.
Nemecz carded a round of 70 while Perico flew up the leaderboard with a round of 67.
Perico is projected to climb from 67th to 17th and into the DP World Tour card places if he can hold his position.
