Mark Power has secured safe passage to Stage Two of DP World Tour Q-School after finishing in third place overall at Golfclub Schloss Ebreichsdorf in Austria.
Power went into the final round in first place overall after rounds of 69 and 66 on days one and two before the course was shortened and he shot another 66 on day three.
With qualification the number one goal, and the top 18 and ties advancing, finishing as leading qualifier took a back seat to ensuring he advanced and after two early bogeys in the final round, he played safe golf to cover the final 14 holes in -1 and earned just over €900 for his third-place finish.
Power joined Hugh Foley, John Ross Galbraith, David Carey, Cormac Sharvin, Tom Dowdall, Paul McBride, and Robert Moran, all of whom advanced through previous qualifiers, but Alex Maguire won’t be joining them.
The Mornington man closed out with a one-under 67 that took him to -3 overall, but left him in 19th place at the end of the day, missing out on qualification by a single shot and in heartbreaking fashion.
Stephen Grant also missed out, but he was two shots behind Maguire.
