John Doyle picked up his second point of this year’s Junior Ryder Cup at Nassau Country Club but Europe trail the USA 10-8 heading into the Thursday singles.

Doyle and Benedicte Brent-Petersen were 2UP winners over US pair Amelie Zalsman and Tyler Mawhinney in the mixed fourballs.

Doyle and Brent-Petersen were never behind in their fourball match. The 18-year-old Fota Island star and his partner were one up after a birdie on the 2nd from Petersen.

After being pegged back, both players birdied the 9th to move one ahead again before birdies on 17 and 18 saw them eventually shake off the challenge of the Americans.

Unfortunately for Steven Galllagher’s European side, they lost the session 3.5-2.5 to trail the home side by two points as they look to retain the title which they won in Rome two years ago.

The two teams also won’t get their big finale in Bethpage Black after the singles ties were moved from the course back to Nassau with inclement weather expected in New York.
