Lincoln Memorial University’s Morgan Cain secured his first Collegiate victory at the UNG Mizuno Intercollegiate, hosted at Chattahoochee Golf Club in Georgia.

The Cork native and Cork Golf Club member is in his junior year at the university in Tennessee, and after an opening round of 73, responded with back-to-back four-under 68s to tie 36-hole leader Colby Bennett of North Georgia.

Four birdies in a six-hole stretch on the front nine catapulted Cain into contention, and he played the tougher back nine in level-par while Bennett could only manage a one-over final nine holes and a level-par final day.

On the first playoff hole, a par was enough for Cain, who recently turned 22, to take individual honours while Lincoln Memorial finished 11th overall on the team leaderboard.
