Patrick Curran has opened up a three-stroke lead going into the final round of the opening R&A Student Series event of the 2025/26 campaign thanks to a one-under 71 at Sweden’s Halmstad Golf Club.

The National College of Ireland student hit the front with a five-under 67 that featured five birdies in six holes on the back nine on day one, but the fireworks were muted in the tougher conditions on day two.

Three birdies and two bogeys resulted in a 71 that saw his advantage increase by two strokes as his closest overnight challenger struggled and Oskar Bjorkvist from the hosting university moved into second place.

Maynooth University’s Ben Cahill shares sixth place on +1 after a two-over 74 on day two, while fellow Maynooth student Aodhagan Brady slipped down to 15th at +4.

In the women’s event, Anna Dawson hangs onto a place in the top 10 after a second successive 75 leaves her on +3, while Anna Abom occupies solo 12th place.
