Saturday saw the third and final round of the Longwy Alps Tour and it was delight for Spain’s Javier Barcos as the 23-year-old captured his second victory of the season with a winning score of 14-under-par.

Four strokes back from Barcos and securing another top-10 finish was Galway’s Ronan Mullarney, as a three-under-par final round saw the 29-year-old finish on 10-under-par in a three-way tie for seventh place and vital Order of Merit points as he continues to seek promotion back to the HotelPlanner Tour for 2026.

Mullarney was consistent throughout the three rounds, navigating the tight course smoothly by putting himself in scorable positions.

An early birdie on the par-4 third hole was quickly cancelled out by a bogey on the fifth but that would be Mullarney’s only lapse as he regrouped to birdie the eighth.

Two more birdies came on the back nine as Mullarney gained his ninth top-10 finish on the Alps Tour.

A sluggish start for the eventual winner Barcos may have had Mullarney thinking that he had a chance to earn his third win on the Alps Tour, but the Spaniard quickly forgot about his two early bogeys to make two birdies and an eagle in the final four holes of the front nine.

Barcos then experienced another blip with two bogeys to start the back nine but showed his mental strength to erase those from his memory to make three more birdies as he closed out his round.

Speaking on his win, Barcos said: “It’s a great feeling. It was a battle all day long since I didn’t have my A game, but I’m glad the best two shots of the day came on the last two holes.”

Looking ahead to the few events left before the season ending Grand Final, Barcos said: “I’m going to be way more relaxed now, which isn’t normal in a golf tournament, so I’m just going to try to have as much fun as possible, which has been hard for me this past month.”

“This win is great and really important, but I’m going to keep playing as well as I can and see where that leads me. If I end up getting the promotion, it will be so gratifying since that’s what I’ve been working for all year and my top goal,” added Barcos graciously.

Finishing the tournament in solo second place with a three-day total of 13-under-par was 34-year-old Spaniard Manuel Morugan, the winner of the 2022 Abruzzo Alps Open.

Jerry Ji from the Netherlands claimed third place outright at 12 under-par, while Italy’s Manfredi Manica, Mattia Comotti, and Ludovico Addabbo shared fourth place in a three-way tie at 11-under.

Following the 2025 Longwy Alps Open, Barcos remains atop the Alps Tour Order of Merit with 29,042.34 points. Italy’s Jacopo Vecchi Fossa holds steady in second place with 22,403.63 points, while France’s Quentin Debove climbs into third with a total of 20,488.15 points.

After Mullarney’s impressive result earning him just over €1,500, he sits in fifth place in the Order of Merit with 19,998.96 points and stands a good chance to be promoted to the Hotelplanner Tour.

The Alps Tour remains in France as next week, from September 11-13 at AA Saint-Omer Golf Club in Saint-Omer, the 2025 Hauts de France-Pas de Calais Golf Open will take place.
