Neither Liam Grehan nor Rowan Lester will see final-round action at the Sunshine Tour’s SunBet Challenge after both missed the 36-hole cut at Wild Coast Sun Country Club in Port Edward.

After a three-over opening round, Lester was the best placed of the duo going into round two, but two bogeys on the front side and two more in the first two on the back left him with too much work to do, and though he rallied with two birdies in the next five, a final bogey on 17 left him on +6.

Grehan began the day a shot behind his fellow countryman, and he too made two early bogeys to leave himself a mountain to climb. He got back to level-par for the day by the turn, and traded a single birdie and single bogey on the back, leaving him three shots outside the mark at the end of day’s play.

For Lester, it’s his first missed cut since returning from the mid-season break, while Grehan has now had an early exit in the last two.

At the top of the leaderboard, South African Michael Hollick has hit the front after a five-under 65 that lifts him to -9 and one clear of England’s Joe Knox and Jacques P de Villiers who shared first-round leader honours at -7 and shot matching 69s on day two.
