A home winner of the Irish Open at the K Club this week is on the cards according to the betting with Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry set to tee it up among the favourites with BOYLE Sports.
McIlroy heads a star-studded list of entries for the 2025 renewal and is rated the man to beat at 7/2 as he bids to win a second Irish Open having triumphed at the same venue in 2016.
The patriotic support doesn’t end there however as Shane Lowry has been clipped into 12/1 from 14/1 to land his home Open for the second time following his memorable breakthrough victory as an amateur in County Louth 16 years ago.
The Offaly man was confirmed this week as one of Luke Donald’s six wildcard picks for the Ryder Cup and is also a 12/1 shot to be top scorer on the European side set to defend the famous trophy in New York.
Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm are 5/1 joint favourites to contribute most points to Europe’s tally at Bethpage Black, although the hosts are currently deemed odds-on favourites at 8/11 to wrestle back the bragging rights under the leadership of Keegan Bradley.
Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said: “What better way to get fuelled for the Ryder Cup than a victory in your home Open and if the betting is anything to go by, the locals will have plenty to cheer about at the K Club.”
