Adilson da Silva had a standout year in 2024, culminating in the Brazilian winning the Legends Tour Order of Merit at the end of a season where he claimed the Irish Legends at Seapoint and the European Legends at Golf Almerimar in Spain, but the seven-time Legends Tour winner hasn’t had it all his own way in 2025.
But with the memory of the win at Seapoint still fresh in his mind, he’s happy to be back on Irish soil and thinks that both the golf course and the weather forecast could play to his advantage.
“Yeah, I’m very happy to be back,” he said after playing the 18-hole Pro-Am on Thursday. “I like this kind of a course, you know, and also the wind, I think it suits my game because I hit the ball a bit low. If the wind comes up for me, I think it’s good because I feel like I’m hitting my tee shots quite good, so keeping it in play will probably give me good opportunities for birdies, you know.
“The greens are superb. They are really running so nicely, you know, so if you just get on the line with the pace, you know, you’re gonna hole it, simple as that.”
While the wind may be welcome, the rain – of which he experienced a little on Thursday – is not.
“Yeah, look, obviously the wind is good, but if rains, it does get a bit cool, you know, and my back can get a little stiff in the cold weather, but that’s the same for everybody. We all get that. So you just need to tell yourself that and you’ll be fine. But it’s going to be a great test. I’m really looking forward to it.”
