Richard Kilpatrick secured his first victory of the 2025 PGA in Ireland campaign with a six-under 66 in the Luttrellstown Pro-Am, edging Brian McCormack by a single stroke.
The Banbridge man has been in excellent form, racking up 10 top-10 finishes in his 13 starts on the region’s circuit this year, but despite twice finishing runner-up, a victory eluded him.
Playing in the afternoon wave in the shotgun start event, Kilpatrick began on the par-3 fourth hole and quickly opened his birdie account before adding another on the index-one par-4 fifth to move to -2 through two.
Further birdies followed on eight, 11 and 16, before his first and only dropped shot of the day came on 17, but he rebounded to birdie 18 and one, then parred his way home to post -6.
McCormack, also in the afternoon wave, started two holes ahead of Kilpatrick, but got off to a horror start with a double bogey-five on his opening hole. By the time he’d three played, he was in red figures after going birdie-eagle on seven and eight. The Tullamore man finished birdie-birdie, but had to settle for second prize.
Lisburn’s Nicky Grant took solo third at -4, one ahead of Dundrum’s Colin O’Gorman, with Order of Merit leader Tim Rice of Limerick and Cormac Sharvin of Elm Park sharing fifth at -2.
