Edmondstown star Anna Abom holds a share of the lead after the opening day of the Italian Women’s International Amateur Championship.
Abom, who is looking to bring home another major trophy to the household after her brothers Liam and Thomas won the Irish Intervarsities and Irish Close titles.
The teenager, playing off a handicap of 2, carded a three-under 69 to jump into three-way share of the lead.
Meanwhile, Lahinch’s Jonathan Keane shook off his West of Ireland quarter-final defeat in Rosses Point with an opening round of 70 at the Welsh Men’s Open Strokeplay at Conwy Golf Club.
Keane shares fourth place on two-under.
It was a mixed day for the former Irish underage international, who opened with four pars before carding just four more to the club house.
Keane carded three birdies and two bogeys to the turn before reeling off four successive gains from the eleventh.
However, he slipped late on with a triple bogey seven on the 16th.
Maynooth University student Jordan Boles is a shot further back on one-under after a 71.
Jake Sowden leads the way on seven-under after a 65 gave him a three shot advantage over Jamie Van Wyk.
