Seamus Power is seven shots off the lead heading into the final round of the Corales Puntacana Championship.

Power carded a one-under 71 to climb to ten-under but he remains in eleventh place.

The West Waterford man never got going in his third round, opening both of his nines with a bogey while he carded birdies on the fourth, seventh and twelfth.

Joel Dahmen will take a three-stroke lead into the final round as he tries to complete a wire-to-wire victory at the site of his only PGA Tour victory.

Dahmen, a winner here in 2021 would earn a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour if he was to get over the line today and given the dramatic circumstances in which he kept his PGA Tour card last year, this would be a relief off the shoulders.

Michael Thorbjornsen, the Stanford alum who earned a card through the PGA TOUR University ranking, is tied for second with Chan Kim and Garrick Higgo at 14 under. Kim shot 69, and Thorbjornsen and Higgo had 70s.

It was a challenge, for sure. It’s always tough teeing off with a bigger lead,” said Dahmen.

“I feel like I hit some good shots early that didn’t end up in a good spot. Then I screwed up all the easy stuff early, so really frustrating. Felt like I could have really put a big gap there. But I rebounded really well after the bogey on 10 and played really good golf coming in. I hit a lot of good shots that, man, we thought were going to get close. And the wind is brutal out there today, it’s all over the place.”

At the RBC Heritage, Si Woo Kim leapfrogged Justin Thomas at the summit on fifteen-under after a round of 66 and a sensational Sunday is in store.

Shane Lowry is seven shots off the pace on eight-under after a round of 67.

Lowry was three-under through eleven holes after birdies on the first, fifth, ninth and eleventh and just one dropped shot on 11 and he rolled in another birdie on the par-5 15th to move into sixteenth place.

Kim had a two shot lead but a closing bogey saw him halve his advantage at the top but the 29-year-old was pleased with his performance as he bids to hold off the likes of Justin Thomas, Tommy Fleetwood and Scottie Scheffler.

“I played great — only missed the last hole, so that’s not a big deal,” Kim said. “So I play pretty much 35 holes really decent. So I’m not going to worry about the last hole for tomorrow. I’m in good position. I’ve been playing good.”

Thomas was assessed a one-shot penalty from a waste area on the par-5 second hole when he notified a rules official that his ball moved a fraction while he was removing some loose gravel around it.

Then on the 11th hole, he tried to splash out of some shallow water in a hazard and muddied his shirt and face. The ball moved 15 yards.

“That didn’t seem worth it,” Thomas said, loud enough for the gallery to hear and to laugh.
