Beth Coulter earned her third top-5 finish in as many collegiate events after she shared second place at the Big-12 Conference Women’s Golf Championship.
Coulter went on the charge in the final round with a five-under 66 to finish on level-par, two shots shy of winner Sophie Bert.
The Kirkistown Castle star opened her round with a birdie before roaring to the turn with five successive gains, playing the front nine in just 29 strokes as she moved into contention.
Teh 21-year-old wasn’t able to sustain her run and began her back nine with three bogeys and two birdies in five holes.
Her Arizona State team were beaten in a playoff by Arizona in the team competition.
Coulter looks set to break into the top-40 on the Women’s World Amateur Golf Rankings for the very first time after she reached a career-high 46th following her two top-5 finishes and an appearance at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.
Meanwhile, at the French Boys and Girls Opens, John Doyle is the best of the Irish on three-under-pr while Adam Fahey is level-par and also inside the cut mark.
36 holes of stroke play qualifying will be completed before a cut for the matchplay stages.
The same goes for the Girls competitions where Olivia Costello sits two shots off the qualifying pace on level-par while Hannah McNamara is plus two.
