Ryder Cup Captain and former World Number One Luke Donald has confirmed his participation in the 2025 Amgen Irish Open, which will take place at The K Club from September 4-7.
Donald, a seven-time DP World Tour winner who led Team Europe to a memorable Ryder Cup victory over the United States in Rome in 2023, will tee it up in Co. Kildare as the biennial contest at Bethpage Black moves ever closer.
In 2011, he became the first player in history to top the season-long money lists on both the DP World Tour and the PGA TOUR, a feat that helped cement his status as the World Number One, a position he held for a total of 56 weeks.
The Englishman, who helped Team Europe to victory in each of his four appearances as a player, is looking forward to returning to The K Club, a venue steeped in Ryder Cup and Irish Open history.
“I’m delighted to be adding the Amgen Irish Open to my schedule for 2025,” said Donald. “The K Club is a world-class venue with a fantastic tournament atmosphere, and the Irish fans are among the best in the game.
“I’ve been fortunate to experience some incredible moments in golf, and I know this event will be another special one. The field is always strong, the course is a great test, and I can’t wait to get out there and compete.”
The Amgen Irish Open, a key fixture in the Back 9 on the DP World Tour schedule, returns to The K Club’s Palmer North Course after taking place at Royal County Down in 2024. The iconic venue previously hosted the tournament in 2016 when Rory McIlroy secured a famous home victory, and when Vincent Norrman triumphed in the 2023 edition. It was also the stage for Europe’s triumph in the 2006 Ryder Cup.
Donald joins an already star-studded field that includes five-time Major Champion McIlroy, who last week completed the career Grand Slam by winning his first Masters Tournament, as well as fellow Major winners Pádraig Harrington and Shane Lowry. Séamus Power, a two-time PGA TOUR winner, is also in the field as he and fellow Amgen ambassador Harrington once again tee it up in the island of Ireland’s national open.
Tickets for the 2025 Amgen Irish Open are now on sale, with General Admission and Premium Experience options available. Fans are encouraged to secure their place early for what promises to be another thrilling edition of one of Ireland’s premier sporting events.
