Rory McIlroy is hot on the heels of favourite Scottie Scheffler ahead of tee-off in this week’s Masters as Irish punters continue to predict the completion of a long-awaited career Grand Slam.
McIlroy has already been clipped into 11/2 from 6/1 this week with BoyleSports, who makes Scheffler the 4/1 favourite to add a third green jacket to his glittering CV by going back-to-back at the iconic Georgia venue.
World Number 2 McIlroy is heading to Augusta in fine form having bagged two successes on the PGA Tour this year at Pebble Beach and TPC Sawgrass, but hasn’t tasted success in a major since his 2014 PGA Championship victory at Valhalla.
Scheffler meanwhile goes into the season’s first major without a victory so far in 2025 and Americans Collin Morikawa (12/1 from 14/1) and Xander Schauffele (18/1 from 22/1) are also being well backed to topple to favourite and add to their major tallies.
Offaly’s Shane Lowry, who boasts top-25 finishes in four of his last five Masters outings, is one of the most popular Europeans making headway in the betting and is now just a 25/1 shot from 33/1 to add a green jacket to the Claret Jug he won at the 2019 Open Championship in Portrush.
