Ángel Cabrera, who held at least a share of the lead after each of the first two rounds, earned his first win on PGA Tour Champions by two strokes over K.J. Choi at the James Hardie Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational.

The Argentinian had started the week as the second alternate, but found himself in the field when Mark Hensby withdrew and made the most of his opportunity, firing rounds of 68 and 66 to open up a two-stroke lead over Alex Cejka going into the final round.

But Cejka faltered on the final day, leaving the man dubbed ‘El Pato’ comfortably in front where a closing 71 was enough to finish two ahead of Choi, three ahead of Retief Goosen and four clear of Thomas Bjorn and Joe Durrant who shared fourth at -7.

“It’s very emotional after everything that I’ve gone through the last couple years, so being here to have these chances again and win again for me is very much,” said Cabrera afterwards. “And obviously it was a hard battle out there.

“Right now, I want to enjoy this. The Master I’m going to be walking hole by hole, but I want to enjoy this right now.”

Darren Clarke was six back going into the final round and shot a level-par 72 to finish tied for 12th.
