Sean Keeling has arrived on the US collegiate scene after he earned his maiden victory for Texas Tech at the Maxwell Indy.
Keeling shot rounds of 68, 71 and 69 to take the title which he now adds to an already glittering CV at amateur level.
A prolific winner at Boys level in Ireland, a collegiate victory is the next step on the ladder for the Texas freshman.
The Roganstown star has been in fine form this season having recently finished fourth at the Prestige Individual and the teenager could break into the top-300 on the world amateur golf ranking.
Meanwhile, at the R&A Student Tour Series finale at St Andrews, Maynooth University’s James Walsh will bid for the biggest win of his amateur career when he takes a one shot lead into the final round at the Old Course.
Walsh shot a five-under 67 on the Jubilee Course to climb to seven-under-par courtesy of eight birdies a bogey and a double bogey.
Overnight leader Eoin Sullivan of Trinity College is just two shots off the pace despite falling to a one-over 73 while Liam Abom is next best of the Maynooth contingent on level-par.
Maynooth University star and defending champion Kate Lanigan is nine shots off the pace in the women’s section on three-over.
