Play in Pink, the golf event fundraising arm of the National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI) at the Lambe Institute in Galway enjoyed another fantastic year in 2024, and in a further boost, the charity has been rewarded with Triple Lock status.

Out of 11,500 registered charities in Ireland, only 142 – just over 1% – received this prestigious recognition.

The Triple Lock symbol highlights charities that uphold the highest standards of transparency, governance, and fundraising ethics. It ensures the public, donors, and beneficiaries can trust that these organisations operate with professionalism, integrity, and openness.

Charities achieving the Triple Lock Standard actively demonstrate their commitment to:

  1. Transparent Reporting
  2. Best in Class Governance
  3. Ethical Fundraising

For donors and supporters, the Triple Lock is a mark of trust. It reassures you that a charity operates at the highest standards of transparency, accountability, and ethics. By supporting a Triple Lock charity, you know your contribution is making a genuine impact in an organisation that is:

  • Professionally managed.
  • Open about its financial and operational practices.
  • Dedicated to delivering real value to its beneficiaries.

Can your club help support the National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI) charity in their fight against breast cancer? All you have to do is register to Play in Pink in 2025 and you’ll be doing your part.

In 2024 over 220 golf clubs around Ireland took part in Play in Pink – an Official Charity Partner of Golf Ireland, raising €779,000 to help support breast cancer research at the Lambe Institute at the University of Galway.

Play in Pink raised a record-breaking €779,000 in aid of the National Breast Cancer Research Institute in 2024

Breast cancer currently affects one in seven Irish women before the age of 75 and we’ve all been touched by the disease in some way, whether that be our mothers, daughters, sisters or friends.

The NBCRI is a national charity that funds a comprehensive research programme which aims to improve the diagnosis, treatment options, and outcomes for those who develop the disease. The Play in Pink initiative helps to fund these research programmes to continue to impact the outcomes for those who develop the disease in the future.

How can I get my Club involved?

All you need to do is select a day at your club that you can designate as a Play in Pink day. Then go to the website www.PlayInPink.com and register your day with the charity.

A member of the Play in Pink team will be in touch with you then to help you arrange details for your day, send you prizes that you can use as well as giving you support in terms of promoting the day and making it lots of fun for everyone who takes part.

Can anyone take part?

Yes, absolutely. Visit www.PlayInPink.com and click on the calendar page and you’ll see all the days registered so far for 2025. If they are open days there will be a link for you to book online, or if they are members days at your club you can contact the co-ordinator at your club and book your place.

How is the money raised and can I help?

The money raised from the Play in Pink days is donated directly to the charity so by participating in the day and paying your entry fee you are supporting the charity. Clubs can also run raffles, fun games like ‘buy a mulligan’, have coffee mornings or auctions and again by participating in these you are directly supporting the charity.

There is also the option to donate money directly to the charity and if you visit www.PlayInPink.com you can click on the donate button and make an instant donation

Play in Pink are also looking for volunteers to help too – so if you have some time and would like to help email hello@playinpink.ie and a member of the team will be in touch.
