Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry lead the Irish challenge in California
Scottie Scheffler is the best backed golfer with BoyleSports ahead of his eagerly awaited return to action at this week’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Scheffler, who suffered a hand injury on Christmas Day, hasn’t played competitive golf since winning the Tiger Woods-hosted Hero World Challenge in early December, but punters have backed the world number one from into 4/1 (from 5/1) to hit the ground running on his first start in 2025.
A field of 80 professionals will contest the event spread over Spyglass and Pebble Beach, with Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry both proving to be popular picks. McIlroy, who failed in his bid to win a fifth Dubai Desert Classic earlier this month, is the 9/1 second favourite to bounce back on the PGA Tour, with Clara’s Shane Lowry seeing strong each-way support at 45/1.
With 10 places up for grabs in the each-way market for the first of 2025’s eight signature events, last year’s winner Wyndham Clark (35/1) and runner-up Ludvig Åberg (14/1) also feature prominently on betting slips.
Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said: “Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry are well accustomed to coastal tracks, but the eagerly anticipated return of Scottie Scheffler awaits and punters are expecting the world number one to pick up exactly where he left off last year.”
