Team Europe Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald would have had a big smile on his face on Sunday night after seeing Tyrrell Hatton and Sepp Straka clinch big wins on the DP World Tour and PGA Tour and with another large European contingent set to play on both tours this week he will be hoping more of his big names can catch the eye.

PGA TOUR

Fresh off the announcement that he will be going it alone and setting up his own management company after fifteen years with Horizon Sports, Shane Lowry makes his first competitive start in 2025 at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.

Lowry is making his second successive appearance at the event having finished in a share of 25th place last year.

Lowry is joined by other big names like Tony Finau, Max Homa, Hideki Matsuyama and Justin Rose while a host of DP World Tour players who gained dual membership of the PGA Tour are in the field.

The field is heavily depleted however following the withdrawals of Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa.

DP World Tour

Tom McKibbin, Pádraig Harrington and Conor Purcell are back in the desert for the Ras Al Khaimah Championship at Al Hamra Golf Club.

McKibbin will be looking to build on a strong performance at the weekend where he finished in a share of sixth place at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic.

That finish was enough to see the 22-year-old Northern Irishman break back into the top-100 in the Official World Golf Rankings and he is looking forward to some vocal Irish support this week.

“This will be my fourth year playing so I am looking forward to a good week. Hopefully there are a lot of Irish fans. It’s a good course and somewhere I’ve played nicely over the last few years.”

53-year-old Harrington will be eager to get back on the horse after missing the cut by the minimum last week following a bogey, bogey finish to his second round while Purcell makes his first appearance of 2025.

The Portmarnock man is making his third start on the DP World Tour this season following back to back missed cuts to close out 2024.
