BoyleSports makes Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler the 4/7 favourites as they face LIV Golf duo Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka (11/8) in the inaugural Showdown event in Las Vegas.
The new team event sees four of the biggest names in golf battle it out for the $10million cryptocurrency purse as the prized golfers from the PGA Tour and the Saudi backed breakaway tour tee it up in a grudge match at Shadow Creek.
Outside of the majors and the Olympics, it is the first time that players from the competing tours have met on the golf course, with the one-day event featuring three six-hole matchplay contests in the style of the Ryder Cup.
Scheffler has had a remarkable 2024 that includes an Olympic gold medal, a Masters green jacket and a mammoth Fedex Cup cheque, capped off with a win at the Tiger Woods-hosted Hero World Challenge earlier this month. The New Jersey native has been backed into hot favourite alongside teammate and Race to Dubai winner Rory McIlroy to cap off the year in style.
The pair have seen their odds crash into 4/7 from 8/11 as punters give them a confident vote to get the better of the LIV Golf duo, despite DeChambeau’s dramatic victory over McIlroy in the US Open earlier this year.
Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said: “Las Vegas serves up an early festive treat as golf’s biggest stars clash at Shadow Creek and if the punters are on the money, Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler will land the bragging rights and a $10million crypto Christmas bonus to boot.”
