Anna Foster makes bright start at Q-School

Elm Park’s Anna Foster is the best of the Irish after the opening day of the Ladies European Tour pre-qualifier in Morocco.

Foster carded a three-under-par round of 69 to share third place at Palm Golf Ourika with the top-23 and ties advancing to the Final Stage.

The Irish Women’s Amateur champion carded four birdies, one bogey, an eagle and a double bogey.

Meanwhile at Noria Golf Club the top-24 and ties advance to the Final Stage next week and Olivia Mehaffey is in a good position to advance after an opening round of 71 left her in a share of seventh place on one-under.

Also at Noria is amateur Canice Screene who is just about inside the cut mark in a share of eighteenth place while Abigail O’Riordan is on the outside looking in at 30th position.

Castlerock’s Annabel Wilson made a promising start in Samanah with a one-over 73 that also included an eagle and she lies in tenth place with the top-23 and ties progressing.

At Rotana, Kanturk amateur Mairead Martin and Olivia Hunt are both in a share of 55th place and have work to do to climb into the top-23 and ties.

The pre-qualifier is played across 54-holes on four courses with the top-23 and top-24 and ties joining Sara Byrne at Final Qualifying next week.
