Rory McIlroy has been nominated for the 2024 PGA Tour Player of the Year.

McIlroy, who won the Wells Fargo Championship, will be in competition for the Jack Nicklaus Award with world number one Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele.

The Northern Irishman also won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans alongside Shane Lowry.

McIlroy finished ninth in the FedEx Cup with a total of seven top-10s and one missed cut all season, coming at the 152nd Open Championship.

However, McIlroy’s crowning moment came on the DP World Tour where he won the DP World Tour Championship and secured a sixth Race to Dubai title, while his season Stateside will be remembered for his agonising loss to Bryson DeChambeau at the US Open.

The three-time PGA Tour Player of the Year is unlikely to add to his tally of Jack Nicklaus Awards given that Scheffler and Schauffele both won major championships this season.

Scheffler looked in a league of his own for much of the campaign, adding a second Masters title and a PLAYERS Championship to his CV as he won seven times on the PGA Tour including an Olympic Gold medal in Paris and FedEx Cup title.

Scheffler also recorded a TOUR-best 16 top 10s and did not miss a cut

When McIlroy obliterated Schauffele in the final round of the Wells Fargo Championship in May, few would have predicted the American to win the PGA Championship the following week and back it up with an Open Championship title.

But that’s what Schauffele did as he enjoyed a sensational breakthrough summer as he rivalled Scheffler as the best player in the world on form.

The American also recorded a total of 15 top-10 finishes and did not miss a cut.

20-year-old Nick Dunlap, who won twice on the PGA Tour, once as an amateur and once as a professional has been nominated for the Rookie of the Year award.

Dunlap will face competition for the Arnold Palmer Award from Max Greyserman, Jake Knapp (Mexico Open winner) and Frenchman Matthieu Pavon who won the Farmers Insurance Open.

Pavon also recorded a top-5 finish at the US Open, making 15 cuts in nineteen starts.

Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year are determined by a member vote, with PGA TOUR members who played in at least 15 events during the 2024 season eligible to vote.

The voting will close on Wednesday, December 4, at 5 p.m. ET. The winners will be announced by the end of the year.
