Beth Coulter and Aine Donegan showed some of their Curtis Cup mettle as they turned out in the green of Ireland at the Spirit Invitational.

Both players combined to secure a 6th place finish in the women’s event.

Coulter (Kirkistown Castle) and Donegan (Lahinch) ended the week at seventeen-under-par after they combined for a final round of 66.

The pair had shot a third round of 63 to lie just for shots back heading into the final round but had to settle for sixth, six shots shy of overall winners Denmark.

In the individual event Donegan finished in fifth place, seven shots off the pace while Coulter was eleventh.

It was a share of eleventh place also for Ireland in the men’s section as Joshua Hill and Thomas Higgins finished strong with a final round of 68 after opening with efforts of 69 and 65.

Their fourteen-under total was fourteen shots behind eventual winners Mexico and England.

Higgins (Roscommon) finished 22nd in the individual and Hill of Galgorm was 25th.
