Robert Moran’s hopes of pushing his way into the top five of the Alps Tour Order of Merit and earning a Challenge Tour card for 2025 came to a premature end as weather reduced the Grand Final to 36 holes.

Heavy rains forced days one and two to be suspended and most of the 47-man field had to return on Friday morning to complete round two. After just an hour of play, the steady rain kicked up a gear and forced yet another suspension of play. As the realisation that completing 54 holes wasn’t going to be possible dawned, tournament organisers made the decision to cut the event to 36 holes.

This meant that Moran, who had four holes to complete when play resumed this morning, had lost all chance of the tournament victory that would’ve seen him climb into the top five. As it happens, his 11th place finish thanks to back-to-back 71s actually saw him slip to 12th in the Order of Merit and he’ll be back on the Alps Tour again in 2025.

Italian Enrico Di Nitto entered the week as the fifth ranked player on Tour and as such, had a big target on his back, but a second-round 65 coupled with his opening 71 saw him move to eight-under and secure a three-stroke victory over fellow Italian Jacopo Vecchi Fossa and Frenchman Damien Perrier.

Di Nitto’s win lifted him to second in the rankings, while Perrier moved into fourth. Frenchman Benjamin Kedochim held onto his top spot in the rankings, with American Brandon Kewalramani and Holland’s Vince van Veen round out the top five.
