Hugh Foley and Matthew McClean continued their fine record together in foursomes with a 3&2 win in the afternoon session as the International side came roaring back in the Bridges Cup in South Korea.
Trailing the USA by five points to one after the six morning fourball matches, the Internationals took the afternoon foursomes 3-1 to breathe life into the contest.
Foley (Royal Dublin) and McClean (Malone) were separated in the fourball session with Foley partnering Nicholas Nolte, losing 2&1 while McClean and Jonathan Bale were beaten 5&4.
Both players linked up for the foursomes and eased to a 3&2 win and help the hosts get to within two points of the USA on a 6-4 scoreline.
The USA are bidding for a third successive Bridges Cup title and need sixteen points to retain the trophy while the Internationals need 16.5 to stop the rot.
Foley and McClean have been selected to play together in Tuesday’s morning fourball session and they will face Henry Shimp and Scott Strickland.
