Sara Byrne’s hopes of a maiden professional win faded on the final day of the Calatayud Ladies Open as the LET Access Tour rounded off the 2024 season.

Byrne held a one shot lead heading into the final round but a final round of 75 saw her end the week in sixth place on six-under-par, four shots shy of eventual winner Ellie Gower who was victorious in a playoff.

The Dromoland Castle star had an edgy start, opening with a bogey six and she completed an erratic front nine with birdies on the third and seventh and bogey on the par-5 4th and par-3 5th.

She kept her hopes of a first professional win alive with a birdie on the 11th but her day unraveled with four bogeys and a birdie in five holes.

Meanwhile, Annabel Wilson who co-led with Byrne after round one carded a final round of 74 for a two-over total.
