If the final round of the First Stage of DP World Tour Q-School told us anything it’s that there are multiple ways to get over the line.

Starting off with the simple stuff, Galway’s Ronan Mullarney was the only Irishman to progress to the Second Stage from Golf de Léry Poses in France.

Mullarney secured the 21st and final qualifying spot on five under par after a fourth round of 72.

Meanwhile, in Denmark, all four Irish progressed from Horsens Golfklub but each in their own different and dramatic circumstances.

Kilkenny’s Mark Power comfortably qualified in 8th place on seven under after a final round of 67.

However, the Irish trio of Liam Nolan and amateurs Max Kennedy and David Kitt also scraped through in the all important share of 18th position.

Nolan who led overnight, finished eagle, birdie for the best round of 76 he will ever shoot to qualify on the mark at two-under.

The Galway man looked all at sea after turning three over before opening his back nine with a bogey, triple bogey and a bogey.

But the 24 year old showed his powers of recovery to bounce back from a bogey on 15 with an eagle two on 17 and closing birdie.

His fellow countyman Kitt proved to be the surprise package and birdied each of his last four holes to reach two-under with a superb round of 66.

Royal Dublin’s Kennedy scraped in on the mark after a 73.

Well done to a the qualifiers and especially the three Galway lads. We see week in and week out how difficult this game can be, so fair play to great resilience as well as golf ability.
