Shane Lowry is eying up at least one victory towards the end of the season as he looks to see his consistency rewarded with more silverware.

Lowry has already won the Zurich Classic on the PGA Tour alongside Rory McIlroy and has missed just two cuts in twelve months while enjoying his best season on the PGA Tour to date, making the Tour Championship for the first time. But having won just seven times in his career he would love to sacrifice some of that consistency to become more prolific when given a chance to win.

This week’s BMW PGA Championship in Wentworth is top of Lowry’s wishlist as he rumbles through a run of nine events in ten weeks that will include trips to Spain, Scotland, Abu Dhabi and Dubai before the end of the year.

“If I’m being honest, I’d probably take a little bit less consistency and a win or two,” said Lowry. “Obviously there’s next week and then I’m going to Madrid, the Dunhill and Abu Dhabi and Dubai — some courses I’ve played well on in the past.”

Lowry admits he is driving the ball the best he ever has in his career which is a vital component for this week’s Wentworth test as he looks to land his first individual title since winning there in 2022.

“I drove the ball incredibly well all week, and I feel like my iron play let me down,” Lowry said after a final round of 68 at the Amgen Irish Open. “Even today, I felt like I should have made more birdies from where I was hitting it off the tee. A 68 is pretty good out there. Half-decent week. But I cost myself a chance to win the tournament yesterday afternoon.”

Lowry has already spoken about getting over the line more often in 2025 but a win over the next five events would go a long way towards securing his spot on the European Ryder Cup team in Bethpage Black.

“I sit down at the end of the year. Probably after the Dunhill, we’ll have a little break. We always have our end of year meeting early December and go through it.

“It was an interesting one this year because I wasn’t in the signature events and had to play a little bit more than I would have liked at the start of the year. I think I can pick and choose a little bit more next year. I think it will be mainly PGA Tour next year again. The lack of travel across the world helped me this year. That trip to Dubai takes it out of me. That had a part to play in my good performances in February, March on the PGA Tour.

“Obviously, the way I’m looking at it is building for the Masters, building for the Ryder Cup team.”
