Cormac Sharvin has given himself a chance to advance to the second stage of DP World Tour Qualifying after shooting his second successive round of 67 at Belgium’s Millennium Golf Club.

The Ardglass man is the only Irishman in the field and has made just one bogey in his 36 holes, that coming on day one. He made four birdies on day two, keeping his card clean and his eight-under total sees him in a tie for 24th at the halfway stage.

He’s just one shot shy of the qualification mark at present, but the level of competition is intense, and he’ll likely need to shoot similar numbers on days three and four if he’s to earn himself one of 20 passes to the next stage.

German amateur Cedric Otten continues to blaze a trail through the field as he backed up his opening 10-under 61 with an eight-under 63 on day two for a commanding four-shot lead at the halfway mark.

The multinational leaderboard features a German, an Englishman, two Dutch men, a Hong Kong native, a Colombian and an American all inside the top seven.
