After the qualification process for the 2024 Solheim Cup came to a conclusion at the end of the AIG Women’s Open at St. Andrews, European captain Suzann Pettersen has named the four additional players who will complete the 12-player lineup.
Leona Maguire will make her third successive Solheim Cup appearance next month after being confirmed as one of Europe’s eight automatic picks to face the USA in Robert Trent Jones Golf Club.
Maguire put on a record breaking display from a rookie in Ohio in 2021 and has amassed a total 7.5 points from the 10 matches she has played in.
England’s Charley Hull topped the LET Solheim Cup Points list with 203.50 points after recording seven top-five finishes on the LET in 2023 and 2024, while German Esther Henseleit is set to make a rookie appearance after finishing runner up.
France’s Celine Boutier, Swedes Maja Stark, Linn Grant and Madelene Sagstrom, Spaniard Carlotta Ciganda, and Maguire all qualified via the Rolex World Rankings, and they will form the backbone of the panel.
Pettersen has opted for a blend of youth and experience with her four captain’s picks, and alongside the sole rookie, the other three players boast a combined 15 Solheim Cup appearances.
England’s Georgia Hall is set to make her fifth Solheim Cup appearance, another Swede in Anna Nordqvist will make her ninth, Dane Emily Kristine Pedersen will become a four-time participant, while Swiss Albane Valenzuela will be the only rookie on the European team.
U.S. captain Stacy Lewis will name her three selections tomorrow and it will then be all systems go for the event which takes place from September 13-15.
