Leona Maguire is set to tee it up at Carton House, a Fairmont Managed Hotel for the KPMG
Women’s Irish Open from 29 August – 1 September.
Maguire made history last week as she became the first Irish winner on the Ladies European Tour. An eagle on the last hole gave Maguire a one-shot victory over Spain’s Maria Hernandez to claim the Aramco Team Series Presented by PIF – London title.
Leona will be looking to keep her momentum going as she will look to claim her second title on the LET with a win at the KPMG Women’s Irish Open on home soil.
Leona said: “It’s always a highlight of my year. It’s fantastic that it’s back on the schedule, now at Carton House closer to Dublin. There are high hopes for even bigger crowds. It’s surprising it took this long to get an Irish winner on the LET, showing how strong the fields are. Hopefully, this inspires more young Irish girls. There’s a good crop of young talent coming through, and this might inspire even one girl to take up the game or pursue it professionally.”
Lauren Walsh has claimed two top-three finishes in her last two starts and she will be hoping to join Leona on the LET winner’s circle with a win at Carton House, a Fairmont Managed Hotel in August.
The event will be played on the championship O’Meara Course which will see Maguire and
Walsh tee it up alongside major winner Georgia Hall and LET stars Annabel Dimmock and
Olivia Cowan.
