Following the conclusion of the 2024 Flogas Irish Men’s Amateur Open event at County Sligo GC, Seapoint Golf Links has been confirmed as the new host venue for the Championship.
The news comes hot on the heels of Seapoint announcing it is to host the OFX Legends Tour event for a second year from 19 to 22 June this year, and it is exciting times at the County Louth venue as they gear up for a busy period according to their Managing Director, Andrew Phelan.
“We’re thrilled that Seapoint Golf Links has been selected to host the Flogas Irish Men’s Amateur Open in 2025. It’s the latest step towards re-establishing Seapoint as a premier championship links on the tournament circuit,” said Phelan.
“We staged the Irish Legends 2023 and look forward to hosting it again this June. So, it will be exciting to welcome elite amateur players from home and abroad, to Seapoint in 2025. The competitors can expect a classic links challenge, a closing stretch like no other in Ireland and a warm Louth welcome in our magnificent new clubhouse.”
This year’s event at County Sligo Golf Club saw Malone golfer Matt McClean claim a two-shot win at the west coast links. And there, Golf Ireland CEO Mark Kennelly welcomed the announcement of next year’s venue.
“This decision reflects our dedication to featuring premier golf courses throughout Ireland. With its impressive layout and history of hosting big events, Seapoint is an ideal venue for the Flogas Irish Men’s Amateur Open Championship,” said Kennelly.
“Choosing Seapoint not only places the event at one of Ireland’s premier links courses but also furthers our goal to enhance the prestige of our major championships. We look forward to another competitive event that will attract players and spectators keen on experiencing the best amateur golf.”
Flogas Ireland MD, John Rooney, added that Seapoint will be another great host for the 2025 Flogas Irish Men’s Amateur Open Championship.
“Next year we are going to go to Seapoint in County Louth which is only a few miles from our head office in Drogheda where we were founded over 40 years ago,” said Rooney.
“Seapoint is another lovely links course, hopefully Matt McClean will come back to defend his title.”
