St Anne’s story as golf club was shared with many during its centenary year in 2021, and it is a tale of humble beginnings, the overcoming of challenges and the creation of a club that has brought joy to many over the decades.

For a club renowned over the years as much for its convivial hospitality as its golfing prowess, the club’s competitive side has always been important to its members whether they be competing at inter club level, hosting events or playing amongst themselves in an internal competition.

A signature event on the club’s golfing calendar since 1992, has been the annual Father & Son competition, which has invited golfers from around Leinster to gather for a week in the summer, to compete in a fourball match play format for what quickly became a most prestigious title.
As the club moves into the second century of its existence, trying to add to the tradition of such an event would seem for many to be a worthy enough endeavour, yet in doing this would this be enough to show the very real progress the club has been making to drive and promote the more inclusive nature of its membership?

It was with this thought in mind that the club decided to break with tradition and to replace its Father & Son competition with an event that they believed might better showcase this new era at the club. It was this simple aim that saw the Parent and Child competition conceived and presented to the membership.

This new event allows any combination of parent and child to compete together in an exciting knock out format, whether that be Mother and Son, Mother and Daughter, Father and Daughter, or Father and Son.
The club are delighted with the opportunity this inclusive event offers families throughout the Leinster area, and they look forward to sharing the ‘Spirit of St Anne’s’ with as many players as possible on the 12th of July 2024.
