Tiger Woods has been without a regular caddie since Joe LaCava took up the bag for Patrick Cantlay in early 2023, and now the second most successful golfer of modern times is on the lookout for a new looper.
Phil Mickelson took to ‘X’ to announce that his brother, Tim Mickelson, had officially retired from caddying after spending eight year’s on ‘Lefty’s’ bag – the undoubted highlight coming in 2021 when Mickelson turned back the clock to win the PGA Championship and his first major title as an all-family affair.
Before taking up bagman duties for his brother, Tim was the college golf coach at Arizona State University and subsequently Jon Rahm’s agent once the Arizona State graduate and former world amateur number one turned professional.
Then, when Mickelson and longtime caddie Jim “Bones” Mackay parted ways in 2017, Tim made the career change and began working for his younger brother, picking up wins at the 2018 WGC-Mexico Championship and 2019 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am as well as the 2021 PGA Championship.
I’ve had some great accomplishments in my career and getting to share them with my brother Tim has been beyond special. I’m very lucky to have had him on the bag for me the past eight years and as my brother for life.
So much has changed since he was single and we started… pic.twitter.com/BvGORzyelm
