Play in Pink is a golf fundraising initiative from the National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI) and in 2023 over 200 golf clubs around Ireland took part, raising over €550,000 to help support breast cancer research at the Lambe Institute at the University of Galway.

Breast cancer currently affects one in seven Irish women before the age of 75 and we’ve all been touched by the disease in some way, whether that be our mothers, daughters, sisters or friends.

The NBCRI is a national charity that funds a comprehensive research programme which aims to improve the diagnosis, treatment options, and outcomes for those who develop the disease. The Play in Pink initiative helps to fund these research programmes to continue to impact the outcomes for those who develop the disease in the future.

How can I get my Club involved?

All you need to do is select a day at your club that you can designate as a Play in Pink day. Then go to the website www.PlayInPink.com and register your day with the charity.

A member of the Play in Pink team will be in touch with you then to help you arrange details for your day, send you prizes that you can use as well as giving you support in terms of promoting the day and making it lots of fun for everyone who takes part.

Can anyone take part?

Yes, absolutely. Visit www.PlayInPink.com and click on the calendar page and you’ll see all the days registered so far for 2024. If they are open days there will be a link for you to book online, or if they are members days at your club you can contact the co-ordinator at your club and book your place.

How is the money raised and can I help?

The money raised from the Play in Pink days is donated to the charity so by participating in the day and paying your entry fee you are supporting the charity. Clubs can also run raffles, fun games like ‘buy a mulligan’, have coffee mornings or auctions and again by participating in these you are directly supporting the charity.

There is also the option to donate money directly to the charity and if you visit www.PlayInPink.com you can click on the donate button and make an instant donation

Play in Pink are also looking for volunteers to help too – so if you have some time and would like to help email hello@playinpink.ie and a member of the team will be in touch.
