It’s that time of the year again when awards take centre stage and the recent Golfers Guide to Ireland Awards dinner at the 5 Star Glenlo Abbey Hotel in Galway is one that always features highly in the minds of golf clubs around Ireland.
As usual the awards featured a stellar lineup with RTE’s golf correspondent, Greg Allen skilfully serving as the Master of Ceremonies, presenting awards in a host of categories including Links, Parkland, Resort, Clubhouse and Golf Manager.
With Fianna Fail Chief Whip, Cormac Devlin emphasising golf’s importance to tourism and the economy, over 130 guests enjoyed a five course dinner with fine wines commemorating the launch of Golfers Guide to Ireland 33rd year.
There were additional awards for Hidden Gem and 9-Hole before the special guest speaker for the evening Roddy Carr from the legendary Carr golf family took to the stage for an insightful Q&A session.
Irish Golfer were delighted to be in attendance and thanks as usual go to Paddy McCarthy and his team at the Golfers Guide to Ireland as well as his generous sponsors Tipperary Crystal and Clonakilty Distillery who help make the evening such a success.
